Because Saturday is the 4th of July, I decided to do this week’s Currently Coveting early. I am all about dressing for a holiday, especially Independence Day because then i can show off my patriotism!! The funny thing is I don’t actually know yet what I’m doing for the 4th! I’ll either be at the beach, at a barbecue, or a house party. So I’ve been looking for some inspiration that’s versatile and can move from the beach to a house.
I started browsing Farfetch for some inspiration and realized that this website is just the aesthetic that I am looking for for my Independence Day dressing. I want to stick to the traditional red, white, and blue, and stars and stripes but I don’t want to be over the top with the American flag a la Forever21. Farfetch gave me some great ideas. I seem to be moving towards a statement piece, like the striped skirt or the gingham dress and keep the rest of my pieces within the red, white and blue color scheme. Make sure to check back to see what I end up wearing to celebrate America’s birthday!!

I LOVE the rain. For many reasons. I love the smell, I love the sound, I love how clean everything looks after a good rain. But most importantly, I love cold weather/rain fashion. For some reason, I think I look better in sweaters, and vests, and boots, and coats. So, any chance I get in this current California drought, to rock some of these pieces, I get really excited!! The past week or so has seen cold weather and some rain in Southern California, which means I get to bust out my favorite pieces from closet. Take a look at some of the pieces that I’m currently coveting and inspired by for this wet weather!

Marc Jacobs. Oscar de la Renta. Calvin Klein. Gucci. Kenneth Cole. What do these brands all have in common other than being powerhouses in the fashion industry? They have all been sued by former interns. And, now you can add Burberry to that list.
Former Burberry intern, Lysandra Whitlow, is suing Burberry and claiming that she, along with other interns, were misclassified at interns rather than employees in an attempt to keep labor costs low.
Whitlow is being represented by Leeds Brown Law, P.C. and Virginia & Ambinder, LLP, the two firms who are representing the plaintiffs in the lawsuits against Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Calvin Klein, Gucci, and Kenneth Cole.
Capes are having a moment. And, I love it!! I bought a grey cape (which you’ll probably see in a Stylegram soon) a couple years ago and I have always loved wearing it because I feel like a cape gives me that touch of European elegance and kind of elevates any outfit to another level. The best part of this cape trend is that its not only jackets and sweaters, but you have cape blazers, tops, and dresses. After all, Gwyneth Paltrow and Lupita Nyong’o both rocked the red carpets with gorgeous cape dresses in the past couple years!
Here are some of my favorite cape pieces that I am currently coveting!
