Met Gala Best Dressed

Last night was one of the the biggest nights in fashion, The Met Gala. Let’s just say I would die happy if I were able to go to the Met Gala. It is held every year to honor the annual opening of the Metropolitan Museum’s fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute.

The event is hosted by Vogue and every year it attracts celebrities and the fashion elite alike, wearing the most gorgeous couture. The difference between the red carpet at the Met Gala and the red carpets during award season is that the Met Gala is all about fashion, which means the people who walk the red carpet are much more willing to take risks and be a little bit more avant-garde than celebrities who walk the red carpets at award shows.

This year’s fashion exhibit is entitled Punk: Chaos to Couture and exhibits the impact punk has had on fashion through the years. According the to the Met’s website “the exhibition will include original punk garments and recent, directional fashion to illustrate how haute couture and ready-to-wear borrow punk’s visual symbols.” The red carpet typically reflects the theme of the exhibit and this year, there were definitely outfits that had that punk edge to it. Below are my favorites!!

Anne Hathaway in Valentino.

Anne looks amazing in this gorgeous sheer gown which has amazing detail on every inch of it. Plus, she looks killer with blond hair!!

Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy

From the beautiful print, to the back cut out, to the gorgeous train, everything about this dress is perfect.

Emma Roberts in Diane Von Furstenburg

What I love about this dress is that its so simple, yet so elegant and it has a little bit of edge at the waist to compliment the theme of the night

Sienna Miller in Burberry

I love how Sienna decided to use punk accessories to edge up the gorgeous, simple white dress that she is wearing. Sometimes the best parts of an outfit are the accessories.

Jessica Biel in Giambattista Valli

Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. I love how this dress is classic on top but funky on the bottom. This perfectly describes how couture has been influenced by punk styles.

Marion Cotillard in Dior

I adore this dress. I think it the perfect combination of colors and I love the asymmetrical hem. I think it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Ivanka Trump

This look to me says “Punk goes Couture” with the gorgeous maxi skirt in that beautiful emerald color but hints of spikes and studs in the accessories. Not to mention, you have to love the green streaks in her hair!

Elizabeth Banks in Atelier Versace

If there is one thing I love more than anything else, it is a blazer. But give me a gold blazer dress with studs and I will literally die happy. Everything about this look is perfection from the minimal accessories to the fringe heels.

Emma Watson in Prabal Gurung

Cut outs are very trendy right now and I love when it is done tastefully like here. Even though Emma is showing lots of skin, the dress is still elegant mainly because of its simplicity and when you have a killer bod like Emma, why not show it off!!

Sarah Jessica Parker in Giles Deacon, and Phillip Treacy hat

Once again, SJP knocks it out of the park. This dress is absolutely gorgeous and paired with her mohawk-hat and her plaid knee-high boots, SJP is epitomizing “Punk: Chaos to Couture”.
