I have a confession: I love shoes. Like, a lot. I am willing to spend more money on shoes than on anything else. And, I think it’s because no matter what type of outfit I’m wearing, the shoes always complete it. At the moment, I’m obsessed with espadrilles. They’re the perfect shoe for summertime, especially summer trips when you’re walking around all day and need comfortable, yet stylish shoes.
As I was browsing some spring sales this past weekend, I came across the perfect pair in the Barneys Warehouse sale, at a steal of a price!! These gorgeous Aquazurra Belgravia Espadrilles are now mine and I couldn’t be more excited!! Now, knowing that I have a 3 week Europe trip around the corner, I may have started looking up some other espadrilles for the trip, because a girl always needs options for different outfits, right? Take a look below at the ones I’m currently coveting, including the new addition to my wardrobe.

Capes are having a moment. And, I love it!! I bought a grey cape (which you’ll probably see in a Stylegram soon) a couple years ago and I have always loved wearing it because I feel like a cape gives me that touch of European elegance and kind of elevates any outfit to another level. The best part of this cape trend is that its not only jackets and sweaters, but you have cape blazers, tops, and dresses. After all, Gwyneth Paltrow and Lupita Nyong’o both rocked the red carpets with gorgeous cape dresses in the past couple years!
Here are some of my favorite cape pieces that I am currently coveting!
1. NastyGal English Nights Cape || 2. Vince Hooded Cape with Leather Trim || 3. ZARA Cape with Front Opening || 4. Valentino Suede & Felt Cape Dress || 5. Blaque Label Studded Cape Jacket || 6. Pure DKNY Cozy Cape || 7. Burberry Charlotte Wool Cape || 8. Haute Hippe Silk Cape Blouse
Mmmm, couture. I live for the couture shows because this is where the créme de la créme of designers, who have earned the right to be called couturiers, take us into a fantasy land where all our fashion dreams come true. And, the fall 2014 shows did not disappoint. The runways were full of dreamy confections, avant-garde pieces, and fanciful looks. Check out my favorites below!
The other day I was browsing the evening gown section of Nordstrom when I noticed something peculiar: a T-strap pump with studs on the straps and a pointy toe. Immediately, I thought “Valentino!!” because the fashion house’s latest it-shoe is the ‘Rockstud’ collection which is becoming incredibly popular and rather recognizable. The collection features shoes in various styles, from pumps to flats to sandals, adorned with studs, as shown below.

Instead, the studs on the pump looked more dull and the leather did not look as sumptuous as the Valentinos. And, as I came closer to the shoe, I realized why. The shoe before me was not the Valentino Rockstud pump, but rather the Sam Edelman ‘Ollie’ T-strap pump, as shown below.

Because I am always thinking with a legal mind, I immediately began to wonder about the Intellectual Property implications of what I was seeing, especially since there isn’t much copyright protection for fashion designers. It’s not uncommon for high end collections, such as Valentino, to be used as “inspiration” for labels that are more affordable. The Valentino pump sells for $945, while the Sam Edelman sells for $130.95.
