Wedding Season Starter

Being in my late 20s, I’m at that age. The age where every year, a good number of my Saturdays are spent watching two people declare their love for each other in front of their family and friends. That’s right, I’m talking about wedding season!!

Last year, I was invited to 6 weddings. This year, I have been invited to 7 weddings. So you could say that I’m a bit of a pro. Last night was the start of my wedding season with a gorgeous reception at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. This wedding was a bit more relaxed and intimate so I decided to dust off an old favorite of mine, my LBD from Halston Heritage.

I love this dress because even though it seems so simple, the details of the sheer rose appliques at the bottom and the high neckline give it just enough pizazz to make it interesting with still keeping the elegance of a simple little black dress.

I had a blast last night and I can’t wait for the weddings to come. Stay tuned to see what I wear to those!

Met Gala 2017: Favorite Looks

Yesterday was the First Monday in May. To most people, its just another Monday, but to fashion folks, its the biggest night in fashion. Vogue puts on the biggest party of the year to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum’s famed Costume Institute, which celebrates the art of fashion. This year celebrated the vision and artistry of of Rei Kawakubo, the founder of Comme des Garçons.

The Met Gala is the night that the fiercest of fashionistas get to play dress up and play out their fantasies. Each year has a specific theme that the guests are to adhere to. This year was avant garde and the guests did not disappoint.

Black, White & Shades of Grey

It’s Monday morning and I’m sitting at my desk at work sad that the weekend is over. But, I’m so happy that I got to bust out my brand new Chanel. Because who doesn’t need a little Chanel in their life?

For dinner with friends this weekend, I decided to stick with the them of Black & White with my gorgeous new Chanel bag and team it with an all black outfit with a subtle touch of white. And, I found the perfect top from Tobi. This super cute high neck tank with white stripes down the side. It was like this top and this purse were meant to be.

To break up the complete black and white, I paired the outfit with my new favorite Stuart Weitzman grey Hijinx Sandals and a bold berry lip from Kat Von D.

I got lots of compliments on my outfit and lots of oohs and aahhs over my new Chanel. As is to be expected. I mean, come on, it’s Chanel.

Currently Coveting: Espadrilles

I have a confession: I love shoes. Like, a lot. I am willing to spend more money on shoes than on anything else. And, I think it’s because no matter what type of outfit I’m wearing, the shoes always complete it. At the moment, I’m obsessed with espadrilles. They’re the perfect shoe for summertime, especially summer trips when you’re walking around all day and need comfortable, yet stylish shoes.

As I was browsing some spring sales this past weekend, I came across the perfect pair in the Barneys Warehouse sale, at a steal of a price!! These gorgeous Aquazurra Belgravia Espadrilles are now mine and I couldn’t be more excited!! Now, knowing that I have a 3 week Europe trip around the corner, I may have started looking up some other espadrilles for the trip, because a girl always needs options for different outfits, right? Take a look below at the ones I’m currently coveting, including the new addition to my wardrobe.

  1. Soludos  // 2. Aquazurra  // 3. Proenza Schouler  // 4. Michael Kors  // 5. Loeffler Randall  // 6. Saint Laurent  // 7. Chloé  // 8. Valentino  // 9. Circus by Sam Edelman

Bangin’ Bodysuit

I remember when I was a teenager, I was playing around in my mother’s closet and saw some bodysuits that she kept from the early ’90s. I proceeded to make fun of her and laugh about how she still had something in her closet that was so outdated. She just smiled a knowing smile that I didn’t understand at the time, but now I do.

Because, I am now obsessed with bodysuits. And, I know realize that my mother’s knowing smile was that one day the bodysuits that I made fun of would come back around in the fashion cycle. Like this amazing ribbed lace up bodysuit from Tobi. It was perfect for this spring afternoon outfit paired with some high-waisted jeans (another 90’s fashion revival), one of my favorite jackets from Zara and some cute booties. Love it!

White Hot

It’s been a month since spring has sprung, but this past weekend in So Cal, with temps rising to the 80s, it felt more like Summer. Now, I know the old adage is that you can’t wear white until Memorial Day. But, I have my own rule: if it feels like it’s June outside, then wear your whites, and wear them proudly.

For Sunday brunch, I went with this super cute white ribbed dress from Tobi.com. It was perfect because it kept me cool while out in the heat. I decided to keep going with the white theme and paired it with my white Chloe Mini Marcie, some beige snakeskin Steve Madden gladiators, and my House of Harlow sunburst necklace.

And while the weather may all of a sudden cool down this week, which it’s prone to do, I love that I was able to get a taste of summer, which is just around the corner!

Currently Coveting: Breakfast at Tiffany’s

It’s film festival season and that means there are iconic film fashion moments just waiting to happen. So this got me thinking about my favorite iconic fashion moment from my favorite scene in my favorite movie: Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly eating her morning danish while she takes a look at the beautiful jewelry in the windows of Tiffany’s on Fifth Avenue.

The best part of this look is that its a simple black dress that is transformed into a look that evokes glam and luxury simply because of the accessories. I thought about how I would interpret this look today and decided that I would take an amazing and elegant black dress and pair it with pearl accessories that stand out and evoke the elegance of the ever-chic Audrey Hepburn.

Mansur Gavriel Responds to Claims of Copying

During New York Fashion Week last week, Mansur Gavriel debuted its first shoe collection alongside its it-girl favorite bags. While many in the industry were excited to see this emerging brand make its way into new areas of market, one fellow designer was not so please.

Designer Maryam Nassir Zadeh of New York City, released a statement claiming that the brand’s duo design team, Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel, had copied Zadeh’s “hallmark mule and slide designs” and that the shoes were also in identical colors to Zadeh’s Spring 2015 collection.

When pressed about her accusations by Business of Fashion, she revealed that her store records show purchases from “Rachel Mansur dating March, April and May 2015, of the exact styles and colors in question, as well [as] an earlier purchase of Maryam Nassir Zadeh sandals from Floriana Gavriel in July 2014.” She cites this as evidence that the designers had access to her shoes and referenced them in their own line.
